Message From The Principal
This has been a very active few weeks in our school. We are all very busy getting ready for standardized testing. A group of eighth graders, under the direction of Ms. Pepiot, are practicing after school for the LEAP, and are looking forward to grand results. The high school teachers and students have also been preparing in advisory for the GEE/ iLEAP.

I would like to congratulate the high school girls and boys basketball team on another successful season. The Lady Lions won district for the seventh consecutive season and made it to the state quarter finals. The Mighty Lions (boys) won district bringing the great victory home again. They also made it to the top twenty-eight for the third time in the last five years. Congratulations to the players and Coach Dupree and Coach Bryant!

I would like to applaud Mrs. Green, a French/ English teacher at our school, who has received notification that she won a scholarship to study French in Belgium this summer. Jesse Malone (senior) has received a full scholarship to LSUS starting in the fall. Dequett Evans and her culinary art class won a trip to New York to compete for America’s Top Teen Chef. Congratulations on all the effort and time these three have put toward their interest and education.

The History Club and Mrs. Patton did a great job on organizing our Black History program. Rev. Anders was a phenomenal keynote speaker.

If you haven’t made it to one of the baseball games, you are missing an event you will never forget. The team is working hard and continue to improve with each game. We have won two games and are really excited about the outlook of the remainder of the season.
